Washed Away

2024

This series of work includes a combination of fired and unfired clay sculptures. It reflects the evolving topography of Cyprus, shaped not only by generations of human intervention but also by natural forces. By submerging the clay slabs in seawater, I engage with the natural process of erosion and reshaping, symbolizing the island’s history of change and adaptation. The waves create new layers and textures, mirroring the ever-changing boundaries and divisions of Cyprus while hinting at the possibility of unity through shared experiences with the land.
